Crime and Policing in Rowington

Yesterday someone asked me whether it was possible, through this website, to inform local residents of recent crimes that have been committed in the area so that precautionary measures could be taken. This made me realise that many locals were unaware of how this area is now policed and what information is already available online about local crime.

In November 2006 Warwickshire Police introduced 31 Safer Neighbourhood local policing teams. The team responsible for Rowington is the Warwick Rural West Safer Neighbourhood team. The team currently comprises four police constables and one police community support officer and is led by Sergeant Gary Holtby. The team has a dedicated website, telephone number and e-mail address. Click here to visit the website.

The website contains lots of information about the team and lists two of the their priorities as speeding along the Old Warwick Road and inconsiderate parking in Lapworth, particularly around the station and Old Warwick Road. There is also an online satisfaction survey that you can complete if you wish to leave feedback.

Each week the team publishes a newsletter on its website detailing all crimes committed on its patch in the previous week. This gives an interesting overview of crime trends in the area. Click here to view the newsletters.

In an attempt to meet local people the team, which is based in Warwick, has recently taken delivery of a mobile police station. This visited our area at the end of June and is next due to come our way at the end of August and again in late September/early October. Further details can be found on the team's website and I have also posted details on the Notices page of this site. If you would like to meet members of the local police team, raise any issues with them or just have a chat this is probably as good an opportunity to do so as any.
