When I launched this site in April I had no intention of including a blog. They seemed to be springing up everywhere and I didn't want to jump on the bandwagon. In any case, the cricket club had a blog of sorts in the form of their weekly match reports and I saw no need for another. But after a few weeks it has become apparent to me that a blog could serve a couple of useful purposes and, if the truth be known, temptation just got the better of me.
I have therefore decided to start a blog for two main purposes, the first of which is to provide news and updates about the site. Hopefully, this will save me having to make changes to the home page whenever I want visitors to know that something new and interesting has been added that they may not otherwise notice. It should also mean that, rather than e-mailing specific individuals with information about the site, I'll be able to disseminate that information more widely - after all, none of it is secret.
Secondly, I have found that I now become aware of news and information about Rowington that is not universally known but might be of interest or use to others. Often there's no obvious place to incorporate this into the site so, rather than keeping it to myself on the off-chance that knowledge actually is power, my plan is to post that information here for everyone to see.
In true blog fashion readers will be able to comment on my blog entries. Just click on the Comment link below the post that you wish to comment on, complete the box in the pop up window with your name and comment (there's no need to leave an e-mail address but if you do I won't pass it on to others or send you spam), click the publish button and your name and comment (but not your e-mail address) should appear in the pop up window for all to see. I don't propose to moderate comments unless I find that the system is being abused or I become inundated with spam.
Incidentally, you may notice the odd Google ad in the comment box. These are nothing to do with this site and are there simply because the commenting service is provided by a third party for free and they have to make money somehow.
That's all for now. Remember to keep checking back for updates and please do leave a comment.
