A strange phenomenon

OK, what's going on here? I know I've mentioned this before but I've just looked at my webstats for October and nearly 50 per cent of the visitors to the site are using Internet Explorer 6, less than 30 per cent have upgraded to Internet Explorer 7 and at least one visitor is still using Internet Explorer 5. They probably didn't stay long because I doubt there's very much of this site that Internet Explorer 5 can read!

I know that, even though Firefox and some less well known browsers are pretty much universally accepted as being far superior, everyone uses Internet Explorer because it comes ready installed on the vast majority of computers. However, there really is no excuse for using an old version when a brand spanking new version with lots of up to date features and, most importantly, very much improved security is readily available for free. For detailed reasons why you should upgrade read this article on the Microsoft website.

To upgrade, all you have to do is visit the Microsoft Internet Explorer website, browse the features, check that your computer meets the minimum requirements, select your operating system in the box provided and click go. Internet Explorer 7 should then install itself on your computer in place of IE6 (or IE5 even). What could be simpler?
