Annual Dinner and Prize Giving 2008

The Club's annual dinner took place on Friday 10 October 2008 at the Ardencote Manor Hotel. The event was exceptionally well supported with the largest number of attendees for some years.

Following Scott Rogers’ example last year, most of the speakers resorted to verse. John Glover gave a rhyming review of the Under 14 team’s performance (all of whom were in attendance at the dinner for the first time), Scott Rogers’ summed up the 1st team’s year with a series of amusing poems which easily lived up to the high expectations set last year and Steve Jay ended the proceedings with a poetic tribute (if you can call it that) to Scott. Brian Taylor, the chairman, and Anthony Collins, the 2nd team captain, also spoke but they really need to brush up their poetry skills for next year.

The prizes were awarded by the Club's sponsor, John Shepherd, and included a new award for the players' Player of the Year. The dinner, speeches and presentations were followed by a disco with dancing until the early hours.
