Under 16s v Wellesbourne
Well what can we say about this one? All thoughts of rain forests and Catholicism were put aside as Rowington focused their full attention on doing the double against Wellesbourne. Yet again Sam won the toss and put the visitors into bat. Rowington settled into their usual steady routine and the wickets began to fall, but with only 10 players in the field, Wellesbourne were able to add another 22 runs to their total compared to the last time these two sides met, giving the home side a healthy 114 to chase. Bowling figures were Sam T (15 for 1 off 3), Dale (16 for 2 off 3), Tom (25 for 0 off 3), Ollie B (10 for 1 off 3), Sam O (10 for 1 off 3), Callum (11 for 2 off 3), Joe (9 for 0 off 1) and Ben S (7 for 1 off 1). There were catches from Dale (2), Sam T and Joe.
This match proved to be by far the closest yet and made for a really exciting evening in the sunshine. The Ollies opened with a hefty 12 in the first over but slowed down leaving the run rate looking worryingly short. But when Ollie K (10) was bowled it opened the door for Ben to hit a quick 28 followed by a crowd pleasing 26 from 5 balls from Dale. With the finish easily within their grasp, Ollie B retired on 27, leaving Callum (0 not out) and Sam O (15 not out) to guide Rowington to another convincing victory.
Final score: Wellesbourne 114 for 9, Rowington 120 for 1
