On Tuesday it rained across the whole of Britain except, bizarrely, over the tiny village of Tanworth in Arden. This meant that the Under 16 match was able to go ahead at their beautiful ground with not so much as a puddle to ruin the pitch.

Tanworth put out a young team of only ten players and chose to bat first. As usual the Rowington bowling was tight and the catching impressive. Dale (1 for 10 off 3), Sam T (1 for 12 off 3), Callum (1 for 7 off 2), Tom (1 for 13 off 3), Sam O (1 for 2 off 2), Joe Turrell (2 for 7 off 3), Ollie Brown (0 for 13 off 3) and Ben Skillings (1 for 2 off less than 1) shared the wickets fairly, bowling Tanworth all out in the twentieth over. Catches from Dale (3), Ollie Brown (2) and Ben Skillings (1) led to Rowington chasing 72. The only frustration was that no one could bowl out Henley School mate Andy Turnbull!

 

The batting was confident and the win was never in doubt. Ollie King (25 not out), Ben Skillngs (4 not out) and Dale (16 not out) only slightly upset by Ollie Brown going for 24 having tried to reach 29 by going for a massive six but getting caught.

 

Final score - Tanworth 72 for 9, Rowington 73 for 1.
