Rowington v World Police 20/20 Champions
Rowington push the Aussies to the limit
A packed house at Rowington saw the home side put World Police 20/20 Champions Western Australia into bat and some really good bowling from the Rowington side restricted the visitors to 165 - 6 off their 20 overs,
with Steve Jay going for 26 off his 4 overs, Andy Shaw 2 - 22, Danny Chinn 0 - 35, Leon Clarke 1 - 31 and Scott Rogers 0 - 39. Robbie Head (50) and Paul Dowson (53) were the main run getters.
With such a low score the Aussies looked a little worried but, all kitted out in their one day regalia of a gaudy yellow, they certainly looked the part!
Some valiant batting saw the Rs keep to the run rate but wickets were tumbling regularly, only Tommy Williams standing his ground. Mike Paterson was bowling well and a vital 15th over returned a maiden and left Rowington with a lot to do off 4 overs, 60 required. Williams tried hard and, with partners coming and going, the Rs could only muster 40 and ended 20 runs short in a thrilling game. Williams (40) and Paterson (3 - 20) were the main men.
A superb atmosphere and great game, pig roast and bbq followed and Rowington saw the Aussies off on their travels in style.
