Under 16s v Harvington
Under 16s v Harvington
It was business as usual for the Under 16s as they faced a Harvington side swarming with Worcestershire County players. Sam lost the toss (again) but, fortunately, Harvington fancied putting some runs on the board following their 180 thrashing of Alcester and Ragley last week. Their opening batsman was impressive, retiring on 26, but Dale bowled their number 2 for a duck. Number 3 also retired although Joe bowled him on his return to the crease, but the Rowington Rabbits saw off the rest with wickets from Callum (7 for 3 off 3), Dale (12 for 1 off 3), Sam O (14 for 1 off 3), Tom (19 for 2 off 3), Ben (4 for 1 off 1) and the exhausted Joe (0 for 2 off 4 balls). Ollie B went 32 for 0 and Sam T 28 for 0, both off 3 overs. There were catches from Ollie B, Matt, Ben W, Dale and the still exhausted Joe, leaving Harvington all out for 124 with 2 balls left.
Rowington knew that after last week they had nothing to lose and the pressure was off as Ollie (20) and Sam (25 not out) opened the batting. With a swift 13 from the first over, this superb pair of batsmen did exactly what Rowington didn't do last week and saw off the opening bowlers. It wasn't until the eighth over that Harvington finally broke them down when their spin bowler cleverly took Ollie's wicket. By this time Ben (25 not out) and Dale (25 not out) were raring to go, hitting 4s and 6s like they were going out of fashion. By the seventeenth over the win was never in doubt with Callum (8 not out) and Ollie K (4 not out) hitting the winning runs with overs to spare.
So it's game on again for the title. With none of the other teams sending in their results for last week it's difficult to work out who's in the lead at the moment but today's result has pushed our runs per wicket from 10.8 to 16.9 which is a good start but probably about the same as Harvington's. It is currently a three horse race. You know what you've got to do guys!
Final Score: Harvington 124 for 10, Rowington 127 for 1.
