Today, in a special end of season match, eleven of Rowington's Juniors - Dale, Ross, Sam Ostler, Sam Turrell, Luke, Tom, Ben, Charlie, Will and Joe - played against a "Select Senior 11" which consisted of John Glover, John Lange, Damien, Adrian, Don, Paul, Chris, George, Piers, Glyn and Steve.

The Juniors went in to bat first and scored 178 for 9 in 35 overs. The sun shone, everyone stopped for a half time pint and then the Seniors came out to bat. We expected the sixes to come flying from all angles but instead the wickets fell swiftly one after the other. The Seniors found themselves with an embarrassing score line of 23 for 6.

Gradually the sky began to darken and there were desperate calls for the match to be abandoned due to bad light or possibly rain. Some even claimed they heard thunder and asked that the match be called a draw before we all got struck by lightening. But their pleas were in vain and despite John Glover and Steve doing their very best, the Juniors got them all out for 107 after 15 overs.

Final score:  Juniors 178 for 9. Seniors 107 all out.
