On Friday Rowington played Shropshire over 50's. The opening pair from Shropshire, both having hit thirty, found themselves having to retire and come back if required later. With the openers gone Rowington soon had the wickets falling with Dave (Pukka pie) Blower grabbing 5-27 off his unusual bowling, Tommy Williams working hard for his 2-18 and Mick McGrory grabbing 2-17 after some  advice on field placing from the astute Steve Jay. The openers returned but couldn’t add much to the score and Shropshire finished on 158 all out.

In reply Rowington's batsmen seemed to want to end the game early as the spinner, Fears, showed very little and had the first four men out with only Naz Nazir getting into double figures. Guest Henley player Phil Hearndon hit 16 before he became the first of Harris's couple and Steve Jay and Tommy Williams put up a valiant fight, but when Jay went on 15 holing out to a full toss from Sam Ostler the writing was on the wall and the R's finished 105 all out. Tommy Williams (28) was the other batsmen to gain double figures. Ostler ended 3-28, Fears 5-30.
